TAG Heuer Watches, Why We Love Them

Of all the watchmakers on the market, TAG Heuer is one of the most popular and well known brand names. In addition to them being one of the most innovative producers of chronographs in the watch industry, TAG timepieces are also some of the most stylish. They have focused on taking their watchmaking artistry entirely through their pieces; from the inside, out. Why do we love TAG Heuer watches so much? That question has several answers, but they all add up to amazing Swiss engineering and modern perseverance. Let's have a look at a few of TAG's most interesting creations and just what has made them the watchmakers they are over the years:

Some of you may not know this, but TAG Heuer has been in the watchmaking business since 1860. Edouard Heuer actually designed, created, and patented his first chronograph way back in 1882 and just 5 short years later he went on to patent the famous oscillating pinion, which is still used widely by watchmakers around the world. By the early 20th century, Heuer received another patent for his invention of the first dashboard chronograph. This "Time of Trip" chronograph was for use in aircraft and automobiles and would calculate the duration of any trip up to 12 hours.

Through the years, TAG Heuer has remained cutting edge and their innovative spirit has lead to many other firsts. In 1914, Heuer produced their first wrist watch chronograph and in 1916 the first Micrograph was introduced, which was a stopwatch accurate to 1/100th of a second. During the years between the 1930's and 1940's Heuer focused their efforts on making chronographs for the German Air force. These professional pilot's watches were highly advanced and all had two registers with a 30 minute capacity.

In the 1950's TAG Heuer became a bit more stylish with their collections. This is when the first watches created for well known retailer Abercrombie & Fitch were introduced. The Seafarer and Auto-Graph timepieces were specially designed for the retailer and offered special dials that had blue and green patterns, showing the low tides.

Through the 1960's and beyond, TAG Heuer continued to bring forth new and interesting watches. Many of these pieces feature groundbreaking technology and super ingenious crafting. Over the years TAG's became more and more popular with the ladies, as well. Their style has always been strong and elegant at the same time. So, why do we love TAG Heuer? They embody great watchmaking at its finest.
